Every Seventh Call to Helpline Linked to Child Suicidal Thoughts, Experts Warn
Data from the Child Protection Center shows that one in seven calls to the helpline now concerns child auto-aggression or suicidal thoughts, with experts stressing communication and emotional safety.

According to the Latvian Child Protection Center, currently every seventh call to the helpline is related to child auto-aggression or suicidal thoughts. This alarming trend highlights the need for increased attention to children's mental health.
During the Latvian Radio program "Family Studio," experts emphasized that communication and emotional safety are crucial factors in saving lives. They pointed out that parents and educators must be able to recognize warning signs and create an open environment where children can share their difficulties.
Specialists urge not to ignore any signals that might indicate a child's emotional problems and to seek help in a timely manner. The helpline remains one of the most important resources where children and parents can receive support.
