Berlin rally held in support of residents of occupied Oleshky

On September 28, a rally was held in Berlin in support of residents of Oleshky, a town in Ukraine's Kherson region currently occupied by Russian forces. The event aimed to draw international attention to the severe humanitarian situation there.
The march, held under the slogan "Stop the Russian occupation of Oleshky," was organized by the Ukrainian civic movement Vitsche Berlin. Participants walked through central Berlin from the city hall to the Russian embassy, carrying placards calling for humanitarian aid and safe evacuation routes for Oleshky's residents.
Shortages of food, water and medicine
Organizers said residents of Oleshky and surrounding settlements are suffering from an acute shortage of food, drinking water and medicine, as Russian forces are obstructing both humanitarian deliveries and the evacuation of civilians.
Participants called on the German government and the international community to increase pressure on Russia to secure access to people still living under occupation, as well as to ensure humanitarian aid and safe evacuation for those wishing to leave.
The situation in occupied Oleshky, where a humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding, has previously been described in detail by Ukrainska Pravda, which portrayed the town as under siege, with residents reportedly eating grass and storing bodies in a hospital basement while awaiting an evacuation that has not materialized.
