Belobrovtsev, Kovalenko-Kylvart and Ismailova extend absence from Tallinn City Council
The Tallinn city electoral commission has extended the suspension of three city council mandates by another three months, as the politicians focus on their Riigikogu duties.
At a meeting of the Tallinn city electoral commission, a decision was made to extend the suspension of municipal deputy mandates for another three months. The move affects Vadim Belobrovtsev and Anastasia Kovalenko-Kylvart from the Centre Party, as well as Social Democrat Zuleikha Ismailova.
Belobrovtsev's suspension now runs until 13 November; Nikolai Korb will continue as his substitute in the city assembly. Kovalenko-Kylvart has also extended her suspension until the same date. She will continue to be replaced by Mikhail Vladislavlev, a long-time author of the "Subbotea" programme. Ismailova has likewise suspended her mandate until 13 November. Kristel Rannajaere, who had the right to take her seat, has declined the opportunity until 14 August 2027. As a result, ethnologist Aimar Ventsel will continue to serve in Ismailova's place.
The three politicians' main occupation is serving as members of the Riigikogu, Estonia's national parliament. Estonian law allows combining national parliamentary work with membership in a local government assembly, but not everyone uses this option because municipal positions are unpaid. In the Tallinn city assembly, the Centre Party is in a coalition while the Social Democrats are in opposition.
