Belgian man's Audi 80 passes one million kilometres since 1991
Belgian Martin Lefevere has driven his 1991 Audi 80 B3 for over a million kilometres across 35 years and still uses it daily.

A Belgian man, Martin Lefevere, has been driving the same Audi 80 B3 since 1991, and over that time the car has covered more than one million kilometres. The outlet nieuwsblad.be reported on the durable car's story after interviewing its owner.
More than 35 years on the road
Lefevere still uses the car daily — only recently he drove it to Berlin. The high mileage largely built up through frequent trips to the United Kingdom and travel to concerts across Europe. After the odometer passed 500,000 kilometres, the owner decided to find out just how far this particular car could go.
Mileage far above average
On average, the Belgian drives around 29,000 kilometres a year in the Audi — more than double the average for a country like Germany, where car use is widespread.
The secret to its longevity
The Audi 80 was originally chosen partly for its relatively low maintenance costs. According to the owner, the car's longevity has largely been ensured by full body galvanization, which protects it from rust. The car still goes through regular servicing without major issues. Lefevere believes careful, consistent upkeep over the years has also played an important role.
