Aerial footage shows devastation in Venezuela

Four days after a pair of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela, rescue efforts are still ongoing at Los Cocos beach in La Guaira state. Aerial images show widespread destruction along the coastline, with collapsed buildings and rescue teams sifting through debris for survivors.

Emergency crews are working on unstable ruins, and damage is visible across much of the shoreline. Nearly four days after the quakes, a father and his son were pulled alive from the rubble of a collapsed building. The rescue was carried out by American and French teams, and the two were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Authorities report that about 189 buildings have collapsed, and the death toll has risen to approximately 1,500. Search and rescue operations continue as teams hope to find more survivors.
