Australian Federal Police have disclosed the identity of a Sydney daycare worker charged with 329 child abuse offences. The man, identified as Tait, worked at or attended 62 early childhood education facilities in Sydney between 2009 and 2025, primarily in the city's north-west. According to police, the alleged offences occurred at five facilities: four childcare centres and his own private business.

The charges include 22 counts of aggravated use of a child under 14 years for the production of child abuse material and 18 counts of intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years. Police have launched a website detailing the centres where Tait worked and offering support to affected families.

Police first linked Tait to illegal online activity in June last year. Following a raid on a property in Glossodia, near Sydney, they found child abuse material on electronic devices seized during the operation.

Australia has been rocked by a series of child abuse cases at daycare centres in recent years. In 2024, Ashley Paul Griffith confessed to 307 offences committed at childcare centres in Queensland and overseas over two decades. Last year, police urged over 1,200 children in Victoria to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases after Joshua Dale Brown was charged with dozens of child abuse offences at four daycare centres.
