The United States celebrated its 250th Independence Day on Saturday, July 4, 2026. Festivities across the country include aerial demonstrations, unprecedented fireworks, and a lengthy address by President Donald Trump. Major events are taking place in New York, Boston, and Los Angeles.
In Washington, the day began with an Independence Day parade on the National Mall, followed by various other celebrations. Throughout the day, more than 30 military aircraft and helicopter flyovers are planned over the capital. The air show will also feature Air Force One escorted by bombers.
Despite forecasts of extreme heat—temperatures may reach 42°C—Trump has announced he will deliver a "truly long speech" to demonstrate that he can do everything.
The evening program culminates in a fireworks display expected to break all previous records. The show will last 40 minutes, with 850,000 rockets launched from ten locations. The celebrations commemorate the adoption of the US Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when 13 North American colonies declared their independence from Great Britain.
