US Fighter Pilot's 'UFO-Like' Drone Sighting Over Iran Stirs Intelligence Debate
A US F-15 pilot shot down over Iran in April reported seeing a formation of Iranian drones moving as a single entity, resembling a giant jellyfish. His account has sparked intense debate within US intelligence about Iran's potential technological advancements in drone warfare.

A US F-15 fighter pilot, who was shot down over Iran in April and later rescued, has given a highly unusual account of what he saw before ejecting. According to CNN sources, he observed multiple Iranian drones moving in a unified formation that looked like a giant jellyfish.
The pilot's story has triggered heated discussions among US intelligence officials, who remain divided over what he actually witnessed. If his observations are accurate, it could indicate a significant breakthrough in drone technology available to Iran.
The drone swarm was described as being interconnected, moving as one entity. Larger drones had smaller ones underneath, resembling the tentacles of a jellyfish. Another source said the pilot described the scene as a "drone minefield." While the circumstances of the F-15 shootdown are still under investigation, early theories suggest this unusual formation may be linked to the incident.
The aircraft carried two personnel: the pilot and a weapon systems officer. Both were rescued, though the operation was complex. The officer hid in the mountains for over a day to avoid capture. During the rescue, a US A-10 aircraft was also shot down, but its pilot successfully ejected outside Iranian airspace.
There is no consensus among intelligence officials about the credibility of the pilot's account. Complicating matters, the pilot suffered a concussion in the crash. One investigator reportedly asked the pilot if he was sure of what he saw. US intelligence had not previously believed Iran possessed such technology, but it is suspected that Tehran may have received substantial assistance from Russia and China, both of which are believed to have similar capabilities.
