Miami's Aston Martin Residences owners sue developer over alleged construction defects
Residents of the luxury Aston Martin Residences tower in Miami have filed a lawsuit against the developer and builders, citing serious construction defects discovered just two years after completion. Fixes could cost millions, while the developer rejects the claims.
Owners of apartments in the luxury Miami skyscraper Aston Martin Residences have taken legal action against the project developer and the companies involved in its construction. According to realtor.com, the lawsuit was filed after serious structural problems were discovered only two years after the building was put into operation.
The owners report cracks in concrete, water leaks, corrosion on balconies and fasteners, as well as extensive cracking throughout the entire structure. The 66-story tower contains 391 residences, with unit prices reaching millions of dollars. Representatives of the homeowners estimate that fixing the defects could cost several million US dollars.
The developer has rejected the accusations, calling them unfounded. Aston Martin, whose name adorns the project, stated that the matter is currently under review.
The case has drawn renewed attention to the condition of luxury high-rises along the South Florida coast. Last year, a study from the University of Miami found that several coastal towers, among them Porsche Design Tower, had settled by up to 7.6 centimeters between 2016 and 2023. While the researchers did not find any immediate safety risks and stressed that minor settlement is normal for new buildings, the findings have raised concerns about the long-term durability of such developments.
