Survey reveals which tourists are the most polite and the most generous
A survey by travel platform “SafariBookings.com” asked 192 tour operators to rank tourists from different countries across five categories. Japanese travelers came out as the most polite, while Americans dominate as both top tippers and biggest spenders.
Africa-focused safari booking platform “SafariBookings.com” surveyed 192 tour operators, asking them to rate tourists from various countries across five categories: politeness, tipping, spending, adventurousness, and interest in food.
Politeness
Japanese tourists were named the world's most polite, cited by 21.1% of the operators surveyed. Norwegians took second place with 10.6%, followed by the Swiss with 10.4%. Canadians and Americans ranked slightly lower. Italians, by contrast, were named most polite by only 1.3% of respondents.
Tipping and spending
In another category, Americans clearly led the pack — 29.5% of operators named them the best tippers, ahead of Germans, Canadians and the Swiss. Americans also topped the list of tourists who spend the most money while traveling, with Germans and Canadians tying for second place.
Adventurousness and interest in food
Europeans lead when it comes to seeking adventure — Germans were rated the most active and open to new experiences, receiving 21.1% of votes, followed by the French (17.8%) and the Dutch (11%). The British and Indians each received 4.5% in this category, while the Spanish got 4.3%.
Asian countries dominated the question of how important food is while traveling — Indian tourists ranked first, Japanese second, and Chinese fourth. French tourists took third place, while the Dutch placed fifth, narrowly ahead of the Italians.
