Poll: No clear favourite for Latvia's next coalition, minority government has little support
A SKDS poll commissioned by the programme "Kas notiek Latvijā?" shows that opinions on the next government's make-up are split. The most popular option is a coalition of the United List, the National Alliance and New Unity.

After the recent elections in Latvia, it remains unclear which ruling coalition the public would most like to see. In a poll carried out by the research company SKDS and commissioned by the programme "Kas notiek Latvijā?" ("What Is Happening in Latvia?"), none of the proposed government line-ups gained a clear lead.
The two most supported options
The most support went to a coalition that would include the election winner, the United List (AS), together with the National Alliance (NA) and New Unity (JV). Some 19% of respondents want such a government.
In second place is a coalition formed by AS and the party Latvia First (LPV), which received the second-largest number of votes in the election. This line-up is backed by 15% of respondents.
The gap between the two versions is only a few percentage points, so no clear favourite emerges.
Minority government
A minority government, which would operate without the backing of a parliamentary majority, has only negligible support in the poll.
