Apple's new M6 Mac Mini now cheaper than the older M4 model
Amazon is offering a discount on Apple's new M6-powered Mac Mini that makes it $20 cheaper than the previous-generation M4 version currently stocked at Best Buy. It marks the first price drop on the new model.

Apple's newly released Mac Mini with an M6 chip is now available at a discount that undercuts the price of the older M4 version, according to a recent deal roundup.
The 2026 Mac Mini launched at a starting price of $899, a notable jump from the previous generation's $599 starting price. However, Amazon is currently selling the base configuration — featuring 256GB of storage, 16GB of RAM, and a 12-core CPU paired with a 12-core GPU — for $779.99.
This marks the first price reduction applied to the new model since its release. Notably, Best Buy recently restocked the previous-generation M4 Mac Mini with matching storage capacity, though with a less powerful, fewer-core processor, priced at $799 — $20 more than the discounted price of the newer M6 model.
Performance gap
The new M6 chip delivers roughly 20 percent faster performance than the M4, while the device's physical design remains largely unchanged from the previous generation. As a result, shoppers currently considering a Mac Mini purchase get better value opting for the newer, more powerful model rather than the older version, which is priced higher in stores.
The discount is part of a broader wave of October Prime Day deals that have recently appeared across online retailers.
