Suspect Arrested in Murder of Former UK Minister Ann Widdecombe

Police in southwest England announced on Saturday that a 28-year-old white British man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Ann Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister and Reform UK spokesperson. The suspect was taken into custody in South Yorkshire on Saturday evening, according to a statement from Devon and Cornwall Police. Widdecombe, who previously served as a Conservative minister before becoming a spokesperson for the Reform UK party, was discovered with serious injuries at her home in Haytor, Devon, on Thursday. Authorities earlier indicated that Widdecombe may have been dead for nearly 24 hours before her body was found. The suspect remains in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
