Aizkraukle Municipality in Latvia is again starting to hold in-person meetings with residents in its parishes and towns this October. The first meeting is scheduled for 19 October in Zalve Parish. The practice has run in the municipality for a fifth year, giving residents a chance to put questions to local authorities directly rather than only in writing.

What is new this year

This time, representatives of Lauma A, a building management company, and of Aizkraukles ūdens, a utility company, will travel to the meetings alongside municipal officials. They will be able to answer questions about the services they provide. The reason is that both companies have taken over service provision in the municipality's towns and parishes on the left bank of the Daugava as well.

Timing and how to prepare questions

As usual, the meetings will take place on Mondays at 17:30. Municipal officials invite residents to send in their questions beforehand so that they can prepare better for the conversation. This can be done by writing to the e-mail address given by the municipality or by calling 27889770 or 65133933 during working hours.

Municipal representatives also met residents of Zalve Parish this past March.
