The annual celebrations marking the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary have wrapped up in Aglona, drawing a large number of visitors. Over the five days of festivities, around 14,000 people visited the church and its surroundings, including local believers from across Latvia as well as guests from abroad.

This year's celebrations were shaped by the current security situation in the region. Because of threats to airspace, attendees included peace among their prayers alongside personal and family matters. Worshippers prayed both for peace in Latvia and for peace throughout the world.

The Aglona feast is traditionally one of the largest gatherings of Catholic believers in Latvia, drawing thousands of pilgrims from across the country and abroad every year.
