On September 20, World Cleanup Day will be held in numerous countries around the globe, including Latvia. Event organizers are calling on both residents and local municipalities to start planning and registering their cleanup activities in advance.

Range of activities

Organizers have outlined several types of activities that participants can choose from. These include cleaning up bodies of water and their shorelines, planting so-called "Laima trees" (a traditional Latvian tree-planting activity), and improving local landscapes.

More active options are also planned, such as hikes that incorporate cleanup elements, as well as nature-exploration events. This allows anyone interested to pick the form of participation best suited to them and their community.

Call to register

Organizers stress that both individuals and municipalities are encouraged to plan their participation ahead of time and register their intended activities, so they can be included as part of World Cleanup Day on September 20.
